研究生 Training Program
In order to offer comprehensive services to the campus community, CAPS provides 实习 和 postdoctoral training to graduate students in the field of 心理学 和 咨询.
CAPS 工作人员 provide clinical training to students from various local 和 national training programs. Under the supervision of licensed 工作人员, 实习 students 和 postdoctoral residents provide clinical services to Saint Mary’s students.
Along with senior 工作人员, 实习 students 和 postdoctoral residents also serve as consultants to faculty, 工作人员, administration, resident assistants 和 other students. Typical areas of outreach include education/awareness presentations related to alcohol 和 drug use, 食品问题, multi-cultural communication, date/acquaintance rape. In addition, residents are available to provide direct individual 和 group therapy to students.
Practicum 和 postdoctoral training consists of clinical seminars, case conference, individual supervision 和 weekly group supervision. Specific training areas include eating disorders, alcohol 和 drug use 和 abuse, brief therapy, multi-cultural 咨询, crisis evaluation, diagnosis 和 formulation 和 treatment planning among others. Periodically, clinicians from local training programs may be invited to attend training seminars.
The 实习 和 postdoctoral training programs at CAPS are designed to enhance our ability to meet the emotional 和 psychological needs of our student population. The impact of the interns' contributions to our goals of quality service is profound. The most significant contributions include:
- Increases in Direct Service Hours - 50% of the students’/residents' hours are devoted to direct client contact (i.e., individual 和 group therapy).
- Enrichment 和 Expansion of 服务 - Students/Residents bring with them new ideas 和 unique specialties 和 interests that especially enhance our group, 车间, 和 outreach programs.
- Providing permanent 工作人员 with advanced training opportunities - Our training program enables 工作人员 to develop 和 refine supervisory 和 training skills.

By offering an extensive training experience including didactic seminars, case conference, process seminars 和 individual supervision, we are able to attract some of the most experienced 和 promising applicants.
